Hello again!
To be honest, not much has happened since my last entry. I feel as though Marilyn and I have fallen into quite the simple routine (not that I'm complaining) but it does mean that I don't have much to write. Instead, I'll fill you in on a couple new happenings, then post a huge amount of photos for you to see. I still don't know how to add captions to the photos, so bear with me (or leave me a message if you do!) until I figure that out.
I finally set up a bank account over here, but can't seem to transfer funds from my Canadian account. Something wrong on the RBC end, but hopefully it is sorted out soon or I'll be racking up some dollars on Dad's visa! I guess that's not so bad either....kidding!! Your visa is safe for now Dad.
Tuesday, the kids came over after school since they go to school down the road from Marilyn's house. I had decided to make them a snack and made the unbake cookies - the oatmeal, coconut and chocolate ones you do on the stove. Marilyn told them they were "Canadian cookies" and they loved them! I captured some photos of the kids and I and will post them. Andy is the youngest, Lizzie is the middle child and Pat is the oldest. I especially love the one photo where Lizzie's bag is almost as big as her! One thing down here, all students (regardless of private or public schooling) are required to wear school uniforms! It makes them all look SO adorable.
Yesterday, Marilyn and I started the morning by taking a long walk along the beach near her house. It was super hot, and only 7am in the morning!! I saw lots of jellys - one HUGE one in particular which was, no joke, about 2 feet in diameter. I also saw a dead cane toad on the road and was told by Marilyn that they are quite poisonous and capable of killing small dogs and children. Lovely. Just another dangerous animal I have to learn to watch out for!
After I had showered up, Jean picked me up and took me to a couple nearby towns to check out the local outdoor markets and beaches. The market was really cool, in Eumundi, and had everything you could possibly imagine. Food from all over the world (I tried some Balinese food - it was quite yummy!) and lots of arts and crafts. Afterwards, we went to Caloudra to pick up a couple papers Jean needed, as well as stop along the beach and eat some lunch. I've included the photos from the beach view - you can see for yourself how a pale Canadian like myself burns in under 10 minutes!!
That's it for now, I'm off to paddle with Marilyn this morning but I'll update you in another couple days after I've been to the lookout, finally had these elusive fish and chips and climbed a mountain!
xoxo Danielle

Hey! To add captions to the photos, I just click beside the picture and press enter, which should bring you down to a line just below the photo...then just type away (and I usually make my font smaller/different just so readers can tell the difference!). Hope that helps! :)
